Environmental Research Group

Environmental Research Group at COMSATS Lahore is working on various projects but the main focus of the group is the same and that is to make our environment a better place to live in. The main projects include treatment of Industrial effluent containing hazardous dyes using biological methods since this method is easy to handle and is cost effective as well. This project is being funded by HEC for 3 years. Another research project which is recently approved for funding is “The generation of super hydrophobic surfaces for improved corrosion and nano mechanical properties” funded by Swedish Research Link Program for 3 years. EPA Punjab has funded a project Modeling and Control of Smoke / Ash Emission from Brick Kilns.

The group is also involved in other projects related with environment. One of them is the production of “floating wetland” in collaboration with WASA, Faisalabad. Another project involves the filtration column containing crumb rubber and silica sand which has been designed by the group members to produce clean water for the food affected victims. The group is also making eco friendly construction materials for green environment. The researchers have recently started working on “Preparation of nanostructure surfaces for water and sand repulsion. “ Efforts are also being made to develop a sustainable method for the elimination of dengue from the country.
