Seminar: Current Economic Crisis in Pakistan and its Solution- an Islamic Perspective
Dr. Musferah Mehfooz (Head Department of Humanities) organized ONE-DAY Seminar on Monday, 10th April 2023 about “Current Economic Crisis in Pakistan and its Solution- an Islamic Perspective”. Because the current economic situation is obvious to all; even the government ministers admit that the situation is dire. Pakistan’s external debt is about $133 billion which translates into approximately 76% of our current GDP. This indicates that 76% of all our hard work ends up in debt servicing. The proposed event is meant to bring together luminaries with vast experience in this field and gain insights into how Pakistan can get out of this mess. Professor Dr. Asad Zaman (Ex-Vice Chancellor PIDE University, Islamabad), Professor Dr. Muhammad Amin (President of Education Reforms Movement, Lahore), Professor Dr. Javaid Akber Ansari Ex-Dean Iqra University Karachi, Professor Dr. Muhammad Azmat (Department of Economics, GC University, Lahore), Professor Dr. Mian Muhammad Akram, Professor of Economics (Rtd.) Punjab Education Department was Among the invited panellists who discussed this disastrous situation and provided practical alternatives.
