NRPU Grant 2021 Award for Dr. Muhammad Javid Iqbal

Dr. Muhammad Javid Iqbal, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, CUI- Lahore is awarded an NRPU-2021 grant of 4.05 million PKR for the project “Gelatin sources authentication in commercial products for Halal Certification”. The duration of the project is 36 months (3 years), involving one PhD and three MS scholars for research on the subject matter. This awarded project is based on Halal certification of consumer products which is the challenging task and is a real need of this time. The source of gelatin is mostly unknown to the local population, and it is intolerable because of prohibited origin. Multiple products available on shelves for consumers use must be authenticated for halal gelatin sources prior to use by Muslim community.
