Department of Chemistry ,CUI Lahore has been awarded two US Patents

Two US patents entitled,”Recovery of nickel from industrial pickling acid solutions”&“Sonoelectrolysis for Metal Removal” are granted to Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq & Prof. Dr. Saleem F Shaukat by United States Patent and Trade Mark Office (USPTO), United States of America inthe year 2016. The inventions are about the novel, cost effective and efficient process for the recovery of metals from wastewater using ultrasonic waves. The wastewater containing metals e.g., lead, nickel, copper are the cause of severe toxicity and is responsible for memory loss, anemia, kidney dysfunction, abdominal cramps, aggressive behavior, constipation, sleep problems, headaches, irritability, loss of developmental skills in children, loss of appetite, fatigue, high blood pressure, numbness or tingling in the extremities. Industrial effluent can be bought to permissible limit for safe disposal in environment and a large number of fatal diseases can be overcome using sonoelectrolysis process.
