1 day Symposium, Workshop & Launch of Bone Repair & Regeneration Network

Introduction

IRCBM was established in 2008. It has evolved as a hub of research activities to develop biomedical materials for various clinical applications. In a short period of time it has received international acclaim due to quality research, publications, products and patents. Today 26 PhD and 34 non-Ph.D researchers are playing a pioneering role in the field of biomedical materials, sensors and bio-sensors, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine at IRCBM. It has four thrust areas - bone repair and regeneration (BRR), dental materials and clinical applications, sensors and biosensors, and soft tissue engineering. With 375+ international publications, 4 awarded and 7 filed patents, state of the art laboratories and functional national and international clinical-academic-industrial linkages, IRCBM adopts an omnibus approach to research and development. The BRR envisages that in order to ensure chartered progress in this area, a vibrant progressive network must be present in Pakistan. Therefore, BRR is organizing a 1-Day Bone Repair and Regeneration Symposium and Workshop on 30th November, 2018. The salient features of this Symposium will be interactive talks from clinicians, industrialists and scientists. The Workshop will focus on addressing key questions regarding bone repair and regeneration, fomenting new ideas and nurturing a project pool with dedicated trained human resource.

Themes and Objectives:

The Symposium on Bone Repair and Regeneration aims to promote the following approach - Connect. Share. Deliver. The objectives of this event are (but not limited to);

  • Gathering clinicians, industry and academia on the same platform
  • Determining the current status of R & D in the area of bone repair and regeneration in Pakistan
  • Understanding and appreciating global trends in translational research related to bone repair
  • Preemptive actions - development of idea and HR pools for key projects
  • Develop linkages and launch of a Bone Repair & Regeneration Network
  • Understanding the route map for true lab to patient translation
