Dr.Madiha Saeed, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Haijun Yu at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, has won a highly prestigious research grant from the Collaborative Research Programme (CRP)-International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Italy.

Dr. Madiha Saeed has been working on breast cancer therapy since 2014. International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) has awarded her a collaborative international project (Worth 30,000 Euro) to establish a leading breast cancer immunotherapy-based research facility in IRCBM COMSATS. This grant is awarded to young scientists with outstanding track records. Dr. Madiha has expertise in nanomedicine-based cancer therapies and has published numerous high-impact articles, with a cumulative impact factor of ≈500, h-index of 25, and 2400 citations (till Dec 2024). The aims of her research are 1) to introduce prodrug-based nanomedicine as a robotic immune amplifierfor breast cancer therapy; 2) to prevent tumor growth, metastasis, and recurrence using combination cancer immunotherapy; 3) to mitigate treatment inequalities and pave the way for cancer immunotherapy-related research in Pakistan. She mentored several students, young researchers, and scientists. She has consistently demonstrated innovation, excellence, and leadership in her field. Her collaborative work with renowned scientists, reviewer services for prestigious journals, and invited talks at both national and international levels underscores her high caliber and scientific recognition. In recognition of her scientific contributions, she had been declared an “Outstanding Employee” and “High-Level Foreign Talent (Category A)” by Shanghai.

Collaboration Background with Prof. Dr. Haijun Yu:
Dr. Madiha Saeed (Principal Investigator from Principal the Interdisciplinary Research Center in Biomedical Materials (IRCBM), Pakistan) and Prof. Dr. Haijun Yu (collaborator from the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica) have been collaborating since Jan 2019. Dr. Madiha Saeed completed her Postdoc in Prof. Dr. Haijun Yu’s group at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) under the CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) Program. Dr. Madiha Saeed has also completed the PIFI Visiting Scientist Fellowship (from July 2023 to March 2024) in the same group. In collaboration, they have developed highly sophisticated and logically responding liposome- and polymer-based nanomedicines for combination cancer immunotherapy. Numerous collaborative articles have been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Advanced Materials (IF 29.4), Advanced Functional Materials (IF 19), Advanced Science (IF 15.1), Nano Today (IF 17.4), Accounts of Materials Research (IF 14.6), Biomaterials (IF 14), Small (IF 13.3), Theranostics (IF 12.4), Nano Letters (IF 10.8), and Advanced Healthcare Materials (IF 10), etc. They have won various international and national research projects, including the Research Fund for International Young Scientists by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
