Message from the Head of Department

Greetings and welcome to the Department of Art & Design at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. Housed in CUI; one of the highest-ranking universities, the Department of Art and Design presently offers two undergraduate level curriculums: Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Interior Design: both are HEC recognized programs. We are the department with an aim to provide contemporary education in the disciplines of art & design grounded in the wealth of history. “A person who does not know the history of the last 3,000 years wanders in the darkness of ignorance, unable to make sense of the reality around him” (Goethe). Our academic programs are designed to evolve our students into professionals who not only recognize, but have the ability to resolve, challenges emerging from today's dynamic global environment. We have a diverse faculty of visual artists, designers and filmmakers who aspire to take the department's VISION from concept to reality. They mentor every student with the utmost perseverance in all phases of the learning and research process. The department has a state- of-the-art computer lab, photography lab, and wood workshop where students get on-the-job training to meet the industry challenges under the guidance of skilled technicians and expert teachers. The department also provides other creative extra-curricular activities such as the dramatic society, music society and art exhibitions among others to incorporate the diverse tastes of art & design practices. I hope that students, during their four years of sojourn in the department, would enjoy the best part of their life, bridging their learning to a professional career in a creative and supportive environment. We are looking forward to greeting you to the prolific years ahead.
