The Department of Mathematics, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus, was established in 2005 with the vision of providing best mathematical education to allied departments. The department extended his vision to produce best mathematicians and researchers by starting its own MS Mathematics program in 2008, PhD Mathematics in 2010 and BS Mathematics in 2013. The department is very successful in fulfilling its vision with services of 33 PhD permanent faculty members, which is largest in its surroundings.

The department has produced 225 MS Mathematics, 13 PhD Mathematics, and 65 BS Mathematics graduates. Currently, 200+ MS Mathematics, 60 PhD Mathematics, and 250+ BS Mathematics students are registered in the department. The department didn’t limit itself to undergraduate and graduate programs but kept building its contacts with the international mathematics community by organizing international conferences, workshops, and research schools. Centre International de Mathématiques Pureset Appliquées (CIMPA) Research School 2018, One Day Symposium on ANT, and ICRAAM 2019 are some recent international events, among these two events were funded by international maths agencies along with HEC, Pakistan. Next year the Department of Mathematics, CUI Lahore is going to organize a CIMPA Research School on Dynamical systems and ICRAAM 2021.

From Fall 2019 to onwards, the Department of Mathematics has started a joint training and research program with the Mathematics section of ICTP-Italy. Under this collaboration distinguished professors from Pakistan jointly with faculty from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Russia and other countries will visit CUI Lahore to teach and supervise students registered in MS in Mathematics
