How the year works

Final Year Projects are group projects, mandatory after six semesters. Supervisors are assigned by mutual consent.

Stage one

Propose

Form a group of up to three from the same degree, agree an idea with a supervisor, and submit the proposal with a Turnitin report and Gantt chart. A double-blind review decides.

Seventh semester · 2 credits

FYP-I

Complete most of your documentation and at least a prototype, then present to your supervisor and an internal examiner, who mark 50/50.

Eighth semester · 4 credits

FYP-II

Show 70 to 80% at pre-evaluation, then defend to internal and external examiners. Marks split 30/30/40.

Dates that matter

Miss the proposal deadline and FYP-I will not be registered for you at all.

What gets approved

  1. If you are developing an application like web, mobile or industrial, it should be based on an innovative idea, not just a simple CRUD application.
  2. Projects that involve research and development work are allowed. Research work is not a requirement for FYP.
  3. The project should have wide enough scope to justify a year long effort and six credit hours.
  4. If you are proposing some product, it must be a realistic and applicable idea.
  5. It must not be a repeated project. One that was already done does not qualify.
  6. To extend a previous project, state clearly on the proposal what they did and what you have planned to do to extend that work.
  7. The project must not violate the rules for students and faculty.
