Lab Safety Training

The "Lab Safety Training" event, organized by COMSIAN Chemistry Society within the Department of Chemistry at CUI Lahore, was a pivotal session designed for third and second-semester students. This event aimed to instill a strong sense of safety awareness and preparedness among students, especially those who were embarking on research endeavors. Before the main event, students engaged in a hands-on fire safety drill. They were educated on how to respond in the event of a sudden fire outbreak and were taught the proper use of fire extinguishers. This practical exercise empowered students with the knowledge and skills to act swiftly and responsibly in emergency situations.

The heart of the event featured presentations on laboratory safety measures, delivered by respected faculty members, Dr. Javaid Iqbal and Dr. Lubna Shein. Their expertise in the subject matter provided students with a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols within the laboratory environment. This training was especially crucial for students who had completed their coursework and were about to embark on research projects, where safety is paramount.

Following the training session, an interactive question-and-answer session allowed students to seek clarification on safety procedures and guidelines, ensuring a clear understanding of the subject matter.

Subsequently, the Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, and the Postgraduate Coordinator, Dr. Shahid Nazeer, engaged in an informative and introductory session with first-semester students. This session served to welcome the newcomers, acquaint them with departmental policies, and provide valuable insights into the academic journey ahead.

In conclusion, the "Lab Safety Training" event at CUI Lahore served as a vital educational experience, equipping students with essential knowledge and practical skills to ensure their safety within laboratory settings. It also facilitated a warm and informative introduction to the academic community for incoming students, fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility within the department.
