Award of Seed Funding to Computer Science Student for her Innovative Startup “Nexus”

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) Lahore Campus has awarded financial seed support to a student-led venture, reinforcing the university’s mission to transform academic concepts into viable commercial businesses.

In a special ceremony held on Friday, 30 October 2026, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Director of the CUI Lahore Campus, handed over a seed money cheque funded by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) to Ms. Zoha, a Computer Science student, for her startup, Nexus.

This initiative aligns directly with the strategic vision of the Rector CUI, Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, and the Campus Director, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas. Both leaders have consistently prioritized cultivating an entrepreneurial ecosystem across CUI, aiming to equip students with the tools, mentorship and financial backing needed to become job creators rather than job seekers.

From idea to registered company

   The SSBC Committee selected Nexus, recognizing the project’s challenging scope and market potential.

2. Commercialization

   Company registered

   Zoha officially registered her company to bring her prototype to market.

3. 30 October 2026

   Seed funding awarded

   ORIC-funded seed money presented by the Campus Director.

Expressing her appreciation, Zoha credited CUI, her academic supervisor, and the dedicated teams at SSBC and ORIC for their sustained mentorship in refining her technical prototype and strengthening her business strategy.
