BS Electrical (Electronics) Engineering

Degree scope has been changed to BS Electrical Engineering Since Fall 2017

Nowadays, electronics is playing a vital role in almost every field of human life. From simple hand-held digital watches to complicated digital computers, electronic engineering is seen at the front-end in design of these devices. Understanding the need of this fast-growing and ever demanding field of engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering has started the program of Electrical (Electronics) Engineering in Fall-2012. This 4-year undergraduate program is intended to fulfill the demand of industrial fields such as embedded systems development, automation systems and electronics-based control systems.
The focus of the electronic engineering program is on strengthening our students in the areas such as analogue and digital circuits design, embedded hardware and circuit design and automation system design using microcontrollers etc. In addition to that students are made familiarize with state-of-the-art and industry-standard simulation tools such as National Instruments’ LabVIEW and MultiSim. To further enhance their technical abilities, students are provided with the opportunity to take certified short-courses on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) within the vicinity of university campus.

Degree Accreditation:

BS Electrical (Electronic) Engineering is accredited by Pakistan Engineering Council under Level-I till Fall 2015 intake. Accreditation under Level-II as per Washington Accord for Fall 2016 intake will be applied for in Fall 2019.

Program Scope and Structure:

The main driving force behind the recent day’s revolution of information technology is the development and advancement in electronics engineering. Advancements in microelectronics, satellite communication, optical fiber technology and digital systems have resulted in development of complex electronics devices, circuits and equipment capable of implementing fast and efficient electronic systems. Program of Electrical (Electronics) Engineering covers the main areas of electrical engineering such as analogue and digital circuit analysis and design, microprocessor and microcontroller based circuits and system design, AC to DC converters, DC to AC converters, AC/DC motor drives and embedded system design. In addition, flavor of VLSI circuit design and its simulation also falls in the scope of the program. The scheme of studies for this program is designed in such a way that not only enhances the analytical abilities of the student but also imparts the ability of critical thinking on every-day engineering problems. Core courses of this program have been selected that inculcate in students the fundamental as well as in-depth knowledge of electronic engineering. Advanced courses cover latest technologies in the field of computing, circuit simulation, analysis and testing the designs. Different subjects from associated engineering fields such as computer engineering and electrical engineering is also the part of this program. Upon completion of designed requirements of the program, students can also select some courses from a list of elective courses that fits to their final-year project requirements as well as for industry demand.

A brief summary of this program is given below:
Minimum Duration: 4 Years
Minimum No. of Semesters: 08
