Dr. Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam visits National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)

Dr. Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam visited the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on 11 June 2024 on the invitation of the Director General NIDM, Mr. Muhammad Tanveer Piracha. The DG NEOC and staff gave presentation on the state of the art resources and the working of NEOC. It was briefed that NEOC monitors country wide environmental parameters. It also monitors some parameters on the global level. Dr. Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam provided details of the landslide early warning system that is being developed as part of PKR 14 milllions NCGSA funded project at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, COMSATS University Islamabad, and to be installed at a landslide site near Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The NEOC team expressed deep interest in the project and expressed desire to visit the test site after installation. It was also agreed to enhance mutual cooperation and collaboration in future.
