Program Overview

The program of Master of Science in Energy Systems Engineering caters to the technical, managerial, and societal aspects of energy systems and facilitates research and development to devise innovative energy solutions. MS Energy Systems Engineering augments the research and development exposure with contributions from various scientific fields, such as Material Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics. Due to the rapid transformation in the renewable energy sector, greater job opportunities are emerging globally at a fast pace. The Master's program of Energy Systems engineering equips the candidates with essential skills preparing them for various positions in the private, public, and non-profit sectors that promote Low Carbon Future with alternatives such as wind and solar power. The aim of the program is to produce trained human resources with strong analysis and the ability to identify complex problems and devise innovative solutions and design skills. Through its curriculum and interaction with practitioners, the students would be prepared to effectively integrate energy system development over a broad spectrum of technologies for their effective implementation. With the acquired qualification, the candidates would be able to compete with their peers in the global energy market.

MS Program Structure

  • MS in Energy Systems Engineering offers the following domains
    • Electrical Power Systems
    • Wind & Solar Energy

    • Biofuels & Bio Energy

    • Energy Economics
  • The scholar has to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours for MS degree, out of which he/she has to undertake a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework and 06 credit hours of MS Thesis/Research Project.
  • The scholar can register a minimum of 03 credit hours and a maximum of 12 credit hours in a semester.
  • The scholar can register for an alternate elective course from the approved list of elective courses of the program in case the failed elective course is not being offered by the respective department.
  • The scholar can register for a research thesis after completion of 12 credit hours of coursework, on the advice of the Supervisor/Supervisory Committee/Graduate Advisory Committee.

Admission Criteria

For MS Energy Systems Engineering

  1. . A 16-year degree preferably in Energy, Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronics, Petroleum & Gas, Polymer, Metallurgy, Materials, Mining, Geology, Power, and Industrial Engineering or in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution, with First Division (annual system) or minimum CGPA 2.5/4.0 (semester system) and no third division (annual system) or 4D’ grade (semester system) throughout the academic career
  2. A NTS GAT (General) with a minimum 50 scores (must be valid on the date of admission).
  3. All other terms and conditions regarding Graduate programs approved by the Competent Authority from time to time shall be applicable.
