4th IAB meeting, ECE Department, CUI Lahore Campus

The 4th Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) meeting of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of CUI Lahore Campus was held on February 8th, 2023 in Lahore campus. Dr. Ijaz Ansari, the Head of the ECE department, chaired the session.

The meeting was attended by prominent industrial representatives from various industries, including Dr. Tahir Izhar, Director of R&D at Maxpower (Pvt.) Ltd, Mr. Abdul Ghafoor, CTO of MicroTech Industries (Pvt.) Ltd, Dr. Ali Nawaz Khan, CEO of Tech4Life (Pvt.) Ltd, Dr. Abdul Malik, Deputy Chief Manager at SUPARCO, Mr. Ahmed Rehan, CEO of Technocrafts, Mr. Asad Zia, Product Owner & Architect at Siemens, Mr. Mansoor Ali from the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mr. Zayn Saddique, CEO of Digixvalley LLC, and Mr. Muhammad Aslam Chema, CEO of Al Rehman Switchgear. The departmental faculty was represented by Dr. Sobia Baig, Dr. Saleem Akhtar, Dr. Naeem Shehzad, Dr. Tariq Hamayun, Dr. Naeem Awais, Dr. Asim Ali Khan, Dr. Mujtaba Hussain Jaffery, Dr. Yaqoob Javed, Dr. Amir Bilal and Dr. Taimoor Naeem. The meeting began with the recitation of the holy Quran and was followed by the individual introductions of each member. Then, Dr. Ijaz Ansari greeted the attendees and emphasized the significance of strong collaboration between industry and academia.

Dr. Naeem Shehzad, the convenor of the departmental IAB committee, presented updates on the progress made from the previous IAB meeting. Meanwhile, Dr. Naeem Awais, the Program in charge for Computer Engineering, and Dr. Asim Ali Khan, the Program in charge for Electrical Engineering, presented their respective program's assessment data. Dr. Mujtaba Hussain Jaffery, the Convenor of the CoC, also briefed the attendees on the committee's data.

The meeting continued with an open discussion, where members from the industry posed various questions and suggested possible ways to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Dr. Ijaz Ansari gave his concluding remarks before the participants were served lunch.
