CPD seminar titled “Linux – A free and open source operating system for home, office, teaching and research”.

CPD committee, in collaboration with Communication Systems and Networks (CSN) research group of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, COMSATS University, Lahore Campus organized a CPD seminar titled “Linux – A free and open source operating system for home, office, teaching and research”. The webinar was presented by Dr Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam on 31st of May 2021 and was attended by over 100 participants from all over Pakistan. Attendees included undergraduate and graduate students, engineers and professionals working in the industry and faculty members from universities. The seminar carried 0.5 CPD points for registered and professional Engineers.
Participants kept glued to their screens throughout the presentation. The impact of the workshop was high as only a few resources on this subject are available on the Internet and those too, do not cover the subject holistically. Starting from the basics, the presentation by Dr. Farooq-i-Azam provided guidance about the installation and usage examples for home and office for Linux operating system. Towards the end, some working examples of the advanced usage of Linux including bash scripting were also provided which the attendees found quite interesting.
