MS Artificial Intelligence Engineering

Program Overview

Computer Engineering Department has launched Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Engineering at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus from Fall 2025 after seeking NOC from HEC. Inarguably, modern technological advancements, especially AI and internet-of-things (IoT), have taken the demand for subject experts to all-time-high in the recent past. This calls for the introduction of new engineering programs that should produce all-round human-resource at a considerable rate, competent enough to face the challenges that these realms are posing across various engineering disciplines. While an undergraduate degree prepares the human resource to suit a specific engineering discipline, a quality MS-level program, encompassing knowledge of several engineering disciplines, is more likely to produce graduates who are well-equipped to tackle complex engineering problems that require AI specialists. To contribute towards the same and play its due role, the Computer Engineering department at CUI Lahore hereby launched the above-mentioned MS program, having focus on the applications of AI across the engineering disciplines, as well as on the classic - theoretical - constituents of an MS in AI program, including Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Evolutionary Computing and Reinforcement Learning to name a few. In this master’s program, the students will learn to integrate AI into the constraints of engineering problems and view the challenge from a wholly new perspective.
MS Program Structure

  • MS in Artificial intelligence includes the following specializations or major areas:

  • MS with Thesis Option:

The scholar has to complete a minimum of 9 courses / 30 credit hours for MS degree, out of which he/she has to undertake minimum 24 credit hours of course work and 06 credit hours of MS thesis/Research Project. For intradisciplinary students, 02-03 additional deficiency courses in the zero semester will be required. Zero Semester will not count towards the maximum study duration for the MS program.

  • MS with Non-Thesis Option in same discipline field:

A Same/relevant field student can graduate by passing 02 additional elective courses and a non-Credit Project/Report. In such case, the coursework consists of 11 courses accumulating a total 30 Credit hours course work.

  • MS with Non-Thesis Option in interdisciplinary field:

By selecting the MS with non-Thesis option, an intradisciplinary student can graduate by passing 02/03 deficiency courses in the zero semester and then passing in subsequent semesters 02 additional elective courses and submitting a Non-Credit MS Project/Report. In such case, the coursework consists of 13/14 courses accumulating a total of 36-39 credit hours of course work. The scholar can register a minimum of 03 credit hours and maximum of 12 credit hours in a semester.
Admission Criteria

  • A 16 years degree in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution with First Division (annual system) or CGPA 2.5/4.0 (semester system).
  • BS Engineering in a relevant field:
    • Computer
    • Electrical
    • Electronics
    • Telecommunication etc.
  • Candidates with a BS degree in Computer Sciences are also eligible to apply
  • No third division or D grade throughout the academic career.
  • GAT (General) with 50% marks.
