Introduction
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the study of theoretical and practical aspects of making machines intelligent. With information technology infrastructure organizations have already automated their processes. These include process automation to industrial automation. Artificial Intelligence brings scientific and engineering frameworks to provide a certain level of autonomy to automation. The world has already entered into post infrastructure 4.0, industry 4.0, and enterprise 4.0; in these future organization generations artificial intelligence plays a role of the backbone; none of these will exist.
As of 2022 AI market value is more than USD 132 billion and will increase 10 times in the next eight to ten years. This potential has increased the demand for AI human resources in the industry. Currently, national and international organizations are looking for good AI full-stack engineers who can work with them on data science, machine learning, business intelligence, and industrial automation projects where AI solutions play a major role. Government of Pakistan is also encouraging manufacturing and textile industries to adopt post-industry 4.0 protocols in which AI acts as a backbone. At the national level, various government organizations and arms forces are also hiring AI resources.
The main purpose of CUI’s BS Artificial Intelligence is to provide students with the knowledge and equipped them with the needed technological and non-technological skillsets that can help them become technopreneurs, entrepreneurs, researchers, and engineers. The program is designed keeping in view the needs of both academic and industrial needs. The program covers the following domains of artificial intelligence: machine learning, knowledge-based and reasoning systems, robotics, deep learning, computational intelligence, agent-based systems, natural language processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, digital signal processing, and so on.
One of the salient features of the program is that it also covers courses like distributed systems, databases, human-computer interaction, and other computer science courses which increases the chances for the graduates to capture local and international markets.
It is a four years program consisting of eight semesters. The maximum duration for completion of this degree is twelve semesters. The degree is awarded on completion of a minimum of 132 credit hours, including six credits for the project, with a passing CGPA of at least 2.0/4.0.
Program Scope
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an exciting domain where one learns to build machines that can act intelligently, ethically, and rationally. The scope of the program ranges from teaching computer science and computing foundation courses to technologies like machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, knowledge-based systems, reasoning system, and last but not least robotics.
Program Goals
- Inculcate in-depth knowledge, analytical skills, and creativity in the domain of artificial intelligence and related domain.
- Attain the ability to adapt in an evolving technological environments, assimilate new information with a strong focus on entrepreneurship.
- Instill moral and ethical values, along with the ability to communicate effectively with computing and artificial intelligence related community.
- Train graduates to contribute towards knowledge economy and socio-economic growth of the country.

Eligibility Criteria
- At least 50% marks in Intermediate (HSSC) examination with Mathematics or equivalent qualification with Mathematics, certified by IBCC.
OR
At least 50% marks in Intermediate (HSSC) examination with Pre-Medical or equivalent qualification, certified by IBCC.
- Deficiency: Students with pre-medical must have to pass deficiency courses of Mathematics of
06 credit hours in first two semesters.
