Cyber Security Research Group (CYSRG)
Introduction
Cyber security is a key concern for societies reliant on networked information infrastructures for a broad spectrum of social, economic, and political activities. Threats to the integrity and functionality of these systems are many, varied and dynamic, as are the ways they may be compromised or leveraged by adversaries. Cyber security research has a general focus upon information systems and information technology that includes aspects of computer science, computer engineering, software engineering and other disciplines, such as law, policy, human factors, ethics and risk management.
Cyber Security Research Group (CYSRG), at CUI Lahore Campus, considers the nature and character of these threats and formulates appropriate ways of thinking and executing cyber security research in the service of society. As such, CYSRG is concerned with the security of data, software, components, connections, systems, humans, organisations and society with emphasis on cross-cutting concepts such as forensic analysis, confidentiality, integrity, availability, risk, adversarial thinking and systems thinking, which is informed by strong relationships with industry, government agencies and academia in the delivery of operationally focused applied cyber security research. At CYSRG, we are interested in the interplay between situational awareness, computer networks, computer forensics, and vulnerability assessment towards computer network defence and computer forensics via the development of tools and techniques that support information sharing.
CYSRG is an intellectual hub for the study of a wide range of issues in cyber security and allied fields, including cyber law, cyber warfare, national and military cyber strategy, critical infrastructure protection, information security, digital surveillance, cybercrime, and cyber espionage. We encourage innovation in theory, concepts, and methods and apply these to contemporary problems of cyber security, whilst stimulating discussion and engagement across academia, government, enterprise, defence and security agencies, media and the general public.
CYSRG is particularly focused on the following research areas:
- Social Media Analysis
- Online Privacy
- Applications of ML/AI in cyber security
- Smart Devices Security
- Cyber Vulnerability Assessment
- IT Security Assessment
- Blockchain Security
- Internet Security
- Protocol Aware Security Solutions
