Inaugurated on November 3, 2023 under the European Union Erasmus+ TAKEUP Project, FabLab CUI Lahore is a state-of-the-art digital fabrication platform empowering students, faculty, and innovators to turn ideas into physical prototypes.
Established as part of the TAKEUP Project (takeup.eu) funded under the Erasmus+ Programme of Capacity Building in Higher Education by the European Union (total project funding: €1 Million), FabLab at CUI Lahore Campus directly addresses a critical gap in Pakistan: the lack of advanced digital fabrication facilities for prototyping.
Initiated by Saarland University, Germany, in collaboration with European and Pakistani universities, FabLab serves as an interdisciplinary ecosystem where students, researchers, and designers convert business ideas into tangible, market-ready products.
High-precision digital fabrication, 3D scanning, laser cutting, and circuit design setups:
Prusa i3 MK3S+ and Prusa SL1S resin 3D printers for high-resolution rapid prototyping of complex geometric models.
High-precision laser engraving and cutting for wood, plastic, acrylic, and leather (cutting thickness 2-4 mm).
Digitally controlled vinyl cutting plotter for precise cutting of laminated sheets, decals, stickers, and flexible circuits.
High-definition 3D room scanner for generating immersive virtual 3D models and spatial architectural schematics.
Desktop 3D object scanner compatible with STL, OBJ, and DAE formats for reverse engineering and 3D printing.
Soldering stations, hot air desoldering, fume extractors, lab power supplies, digital oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
Chemical Engineering students and faculty utilized FabLab to design and build an indigenous Air Purifier Prototype based on real business concepts.
Hands-on training sessions on laser engraver operations arranged for Architecture students for physical scale model building.
Joint showcases arranged between Chemical Engineering, Architecture, CS, and FabLab to demonstrate student startup products.
