Our Alumni-Our Pride: A success story - Maham Liaqat, Ph.D. Scholar / Teaching Assistant, University of Connecticut, USA.

Iโ€™m Maham Liaqat, currently doing Ph.D. in Chemistry (Hybrid chemistry) from University of Connecticut, USA. I was a masters student (2018-2021) in chemistry department of COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore campus. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Akhtar Hayat and Dr. Sara Riaz in field of sensor and Biosensors.

My experience in Chemistry Department has been amazing, I learned and experienced so many new things in short period of time. Chemistry department offers a broad range of academic resources tailored to developing learning proficiencies and self-advocacy skills leading to academic and personal success. I also got a lot of great advice and support from some outstanding professors and my academic advisor, which really encouraged me and eased my mind along the way. They truly cared about my success and made me feel at home. Apart from academic coursework and faculty accessibility, my research work has been rewarding. The resources provided to me have helped me to gain a bright future prospect. My supervisor helped me not only to understand the theoretical aspects but also what it means to work in R&D sector. I worked on both Industrial and higher education technology development projects which ultimately led me to get PhD position.

I feel honored to be part of the first batch of students from chemistry department. My journey of research assistant helped me in paving my path to where Iโ€™m today.
