BS3 and MS2 students of the Department of Chemistry travel to Faisalabad on 5 October 2026 to see industrial-scale chemical manufacturing at Sitara Chemicals first hand.
The Department of Chemistry, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus is arranging an industrial visit to Sitara Chemicals, Faisalabad on Monday, 5 October 2026. The visit is open to students of BS3 and MS2.
Exploring Chemistry Beyond the Classroom
The theme under which the department runs its industrial engagement programme.
Visits of this kind close the gap between what a reaction looks like in a flask and what it looks like as a continuous process running at tonnage scale. Students see the engineering that sits around the chemistry — the vessels, the control room, the utilities and the safety systems — and meet the chemists and engineers who run it.
What the students will see
- Process plant: Reactors, columns and the layout of a working production line.
- Unit operations: Separation, heat transfer and material handling at industrial scale.
- Quality control: How product specification is tested and held in a plant laboratory.
- Workplace safety: Handling, containment and the safety culture of a chemical site.

The visit is organised by Dr. Kanwal Rahid in collaboration with the Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Chemistry Society (SSCS), the department’s student society, and supports the department’s theme, From Molecular Science to Digital Industrial Solutions.
