The Department of Architecture held the concluding ceremony of its workshop on flood rehabilitation shelters built with indigenous methods and materials on 13 April 2023, where Chairman Punjab HEC Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir inaugurated the student-built shelter.
Concluding ceremony of the workshop "Flood Rehabilitation Shelter; Construction with Indigenous Building Methods and Materials" organized by the Department of Architecture at COMSATS University Lahore was held on 13th April 2023. The Chairman Punjab HEC, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir inaugurated the shelter constructed by the students.
Dr. Shariyeh Hosseini Nasab, Chairperson of the department, in her welcome note addressed the importance of hands-on practice experience for the students in the architecture field. She also emphasised on the potential of utilizing local resources to create durable and efficient structures.
This event was attended by distinguished guests including Prof. Ahmad Bilal, Director Research Centre PU-CAD, Prof. Shahnawaz Zaidi, Prof. Israr Chishti and Ar. Umar Saeed Chairman BAE-IAP.
This project was a collaboration of Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP) and “Architects’ World” was the main contributor of this workshop. Ar. Shahid Khan CEO Indus Earth Trust, Ar. Syed Rameez Haider, Ar. Shazia Hanif and Ar. Aksam Quraishi were the instructors of the workshop.
