The primary focus of Dr. Hamad Khalid and his team is on the development of functional biomaterials, including nanofibrous scaffolds, 3D printed scaffolds, and multi-layer elsectrospun membranes, tailored for regenerative medicine applications. They specialize in coaxial electrospinning, enabling the fabrication of multilayered scaffolds with controlled drug release and enhanced mechanical properties. Additionally, their expertise in silk extraction and halal collagen processing ensures the production of biocompatible and ethically sourced biomaterials for tissue repair and regeneration. A key aspect of their research is cell-material interactions, where they employ advanced cell culture techniques, 3D bioprinting, and bioreactor-based models to evaluate biomaterial performance in simulated physiological environments.
