General Information

COMSATS University Islamabad is a Federal Government Public Sector University operating under the Ministry of Science and Technology. The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the Chancellor of the University.

CUI Lahore Campus is located on Defence Road, Off Raiwind Road, Lahore. For location and driving directions visit the Google Maps Link.

CUI Lahore Campus administrative offices are open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Yes. COMSATS University Islamabad is fully recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. All engineering programs are accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), CS programs by NCEAC, and management sciences by NBEAC.

CUI operates across 7 campuses: Islamabad (Main Campus), Lahore, Abbottabad, Sahiwal, Vehari, Wah, and Attock.

CUI follows the semester system with two regular semesters per academic year: Spring (February – June) and Fall (September – January).

There is no age limit for applying. CUI Lahore does not have any self-finance quota — all admissions are granted purely on open merit.

CUI Lahore offers engineering programs in Chemical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering. For the full list of programs visit our Undergraduate Programs and Graduate Programs pages. At present, MS in Mathematics and MS in Physics are offered as weekend programs.

Admissions & Merit

  • Fall Admissions: Commence tentatively in May/June — classes begin in September.
  • Spring Admissions: Commence tentatively in October/November — classes begin in February.

Yes. Pre-Medical students must pass 6 credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses within their first year. Pre-Med students admitted to BS Physics must pass basic mathematics in their first two semesters.

Yes. Applicants awaiting F.Sc Part-2 or A-Level results can apply. Provisional admission is granted and confirmed upon submission of the official pass transcript. If the final score falls below eligibility, admission is canceled and 100% fees are refunded.

No. Gap years have no negative impact. No marks are deducted for gap years in any program.

Yes. O-Level and A-Level students must obtain separate equivalence certificates from IBCC (Inter Board Chairman Committee) for merit calculation. Combined equivalence is not accepted.

No. Students with a supply in FA/F.Sc Part-1 cannot apply. However, they can apply in the next session with a complete pass result.

CUI does not accept credit hour transfers from any national or international institution. However, CUI students can transfer their credit hours to other universities.

No. The processing fee is non-refundable. A separate processing fee must be paid for each campus through the challan form on the admission portal.

You can edit your form before submission. Once submitted, contact the Admissions Office via email (admissions@cuilahore.edu.pk) or through the Message Center in the portal.

Yes, before classes start, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, closing merit, and seat availability of the desired program.

Merit lists are published on the official university website. Candidates are also informed via text messages and emails. You can check your application status by logging into the online admission portal.

Labour Quota (PWWB)

Labour Quota is a special reserved quota for children of registered industrial workers. Educational expenses (tuition, transport, lodging) are fully sponsored by the Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB).

Complete the online form and physically submit DLO-verified documents to CUI Lahore:
  • Worker/Miner's CNIC & Social Security or EOBI Card
  • Factory Card / Employee Card & Appointment Letter
  • Factory Registration Certificate (Factories Act 1934 / Mines Act 1923)
  • Student's CNIC / FRC (NADRA)
  • Worker's Service & Character Certificate
  • Rs. 20 Stamp Paper Affidavit (for returning expenses if student discontinues)
  • In case of deceased/disabled worker: Death Grant / Disability Pension proof

Transport & Accommodation

Transport charges are Rs. 30,000 per semester. CUI Lahore operates buses covering almost all major routes across Lahore city.

1st Semester Hostel Fee:
  • Admission Fee: Rs. 2,000
  • Hostel/Mess Security: Rs. 5,000 (refundable)
  • Boarding Dues: Rs. 33,630
  • Total: Rs. 40,630
Subsequent semesters: Rs. 33,630 (5% annual increase applies). Mess dues are charged monthly.

Refund Policy

  • 1st Week of classes: 100% tuition fee refund (excl. admission fee)
  • 2nd Week of classes: 50% tuition fee refund (excl. admission fee)
  • After 2 weeks: Only Rs. 5,000 security deposit refunded
  • Eligibility non-fulfillment: 100% full refund including admission fee at any stage

Submit a written application signed by parents and the candidate along with:
  • Photocopy of the Offer Letter
  • Original paid fee challan

NTS Admission Test

Yes, an NTS entry test is mandatory:
  • BS Programs: NTS (NAT) Test
  • MS Programs: NTS (GAT General) — Min Score: 50
  • PhD Programs: NTS (GAT Subject) — Min Score: 60

  • FSc Pre-Medical: NAT-IM
  • FSc Pre-Engineering: NAT-IE
  • ICS: NAT-ICS
  • General Science: NAT-IGS
  • Arts / Humanities: NAT-IA
  • I.Com / Commerce: NAT-ICOM
One NAT test makes you eligible for any undergraduate program at CUI.

  • NTS (NAT): Valid for 1 year
  • NTS (GAT General & Subject): Valid for 2 years

While filling your online application at admissions.comsats.edu.pk, select "NTS via COMSATS". The NTS fee will be added to your bank challan. Your roll number slip appears in the portal 3–4 days before the test.

Alternatively, register directly via the NTS website.

CUI considers your highest score among all valid NTS attempts for merit calculation.

Yes. A valid NTS test taken at any COMSATS campus is accepted for admission at any other COMSATS campus.

NTS results are uploaded to both the CUI Lahore Admissions page and the National Testing Service website.
