Research Summary

Cloudlet federation for resource optimization
Mobile devices face resource scarcity challenge due to limited resources such as power, storage and computation. Cloud computing has provided means to offload compute intensive tasks to its resource rich environment addressing resource scarcity challenges. However, users are unable to exploit its full potential due to challenges of distance, bandwidth, and seamless connectivity between remote cloud and mobile devices. The cloudlet based solution is widely used to address these challenges. Cloudlet is a mini cloud in the closer proximity having rich computing resources and stable Internet connection. With the increase in devices and workload, the cloudlet based solution has to deal with resource scarcity challenges by forwarding the requests to resource extensive remote cloud. Hence, there is a need to address the resource scarcity challenge at cloudlet level keeping the request from being forwarded to the remote cloud.
