Customized 3D/4D printed biomaterials for bone regeneration

Our research focuses on the development of advanced composite materials for 3D printing applications, including Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) filaments and extrusion-based bioinks, specifically engineered for dental and biomedical use. These materials support the fabrication of patient-specific scaffolds and multilayered constructs for craniofacial and alveolar bone regeneration, providing controlled cell delivery, mechanical stability, and biomimetic microenvironments that promote tissue healing.

By integrating bioactive ceramics (e.g., bioactive glass) into both natural and synthetic polymer matrices such as polylactic acid (PLA), polyether ether ketone (PEEK), and polycaprolactone (PCL), we have developed 3D-printed constructs with enhanced mechanical properties and favorable cellular responses, suitable for osteogenic and soft tissue regeneration.
