World Architecture Day
World Architecture Day was set up by the Union International des Architects (UIA), the only global
organization representing the world's 3.2 million architects, back in 2005 to “remind the world of its
collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat”. To mark this event, countries all around
the globe highlight the importance of architecture through events, exhibitions, lectures and other
activities. World Architecture Day was celebrated by all stakeholders from Academia, government and
Professional sectors.
It was convened and moderated by Maira Khan, Honorary Secretary IAP LC, Assistant Professor
Department of Architecture and Design , CUI Lahore . Ar. Prof Yasmin Cheema, Advisor, Department
of Architecture and Design, CUI Lahore, was the guest of honor and shared her views on practice and
education. Architects, aware of the challenge they face and the role their profession must play,
demonstrate their commitment and see it as the core of their professional mission. We are convinced
that architecture, as it has done at other times in history, will contribute decisively to building a better
world.
