About the group

Making machines understand human language

The Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning (NLP&ML) Research Group was founded in February 2014 in the Department of Computer Science at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. The group aims to develop innovative and robust natural language processing technologies that improve machine understanding of human languages.

A particular focus of our work is building language resources for Pakistani languages, which remain under‑resourced compared with English. Our corpora for Urdu text reuse, paraphrase plagiarism, cross‑language Urdu–English alignment and Urdu summarisation have been published at international venues and released for use by the wider research community.
