Al-ulum al-khafiya (The hidden sciences) are about the relationship between science and spirituality of Islam, it is a method of metaphysical philosophy used to understand reality as a journey to perfection by unifying the opposite. The relationship between science and spirituality existed from the very inception of the religion. The scientists and scholars of the first Muslim generation (around the 7th century to the 14th century AD), contributed enormously to the scientific advancements and got major achievements in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy and medicine.

My project is a comic book inspired by Al-ulum al-khafiya, it is illustrated in Persian manuscript style. The story symbolically preaches about the good and the evil within human, where evil can never be killed but can always be contained, the idea of (nafs) in Islam. All the mythical characters of this story are rooted with the mystical folklores of the origin and times when Ulum-al-khafiya were in practice.
