Title: Smart Energy Systems Laboratory - A RT-HILL Framework for Research and Education
Speaker: Dr. Florin Lov

Associate Professor, Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University Denmark

Dr. Florin IOV is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University. He did his PhD In Wind Power from Universitatea "Dunărea de Jos" din Galați, România in 2003. He is the Technical lead for advanced controls of multilevel converter for utility scale applications in EU-FP6 Uniflex-PM project (2006-2009). He is the Architect and Coordinator of Smart Energy Systems Laboratory. WP Leader in EU-H2020 Net2DG, Technical Lead in PSO RemoteGrid, PSO RePlan, PSO Low Heating Concepts for Power Balancing, Coordinator for AAU test-bed in EU FP7 SmartC2Net project. He is providing his expertise on control and operation of electrical networks in several smart grids projects and supervising various PhD, MSc projects

The lecture will focus on the on-going teaching and research activities in the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Denmark. A brief introduction to the research facilities with emphasis on the Smart Energy System laboratory (https://www.et.aau.dk/laboratories/power-systems-laboratories/smart-energy-systems/) will be given. This laboratory captures in a Real-Time Hardware-In-the-Loop framework all domains, zones and layers defined by the Smart Grid Architecture Model but also extended to other energy networks. Some examples of on-going research projects that reached a high Technology Readiness Levels will be presented.
