Research Area

Wireless sensor networks consist of several sensors with minimal power requirements and limited sensing abilities. The sensors connect with each other and data processing centres as constituents of a large ad-hoc wireless network. Recently, this dimension of wireless networks research has gained special attention owing to the availability and scalability of sensors, reliable communication protocols, and efficient power utilization. This has led to deployment of wireless sensor networks in many areas such as, home automation, industrial automation and control, healthcare, hazardous environment monitoring and control, and geology etc. WSN research group has been established to explore the areas of sensor design & development, integration, communication, power and applications of wireless sensors and networks. The group also aims to develop low cost, low power applications with domestic perspective and needs.
