C2 Workshops: Design Thinking and Elevator Pitch

C2- Business Incubation held ‘Design Thinking’ and ‘Elevator Pitch’ workshops on March 31st, 2016 at Seminar Room, A-Block. The objective of the workshops was to encourage student start ups by expanding on innovation (design thinking) and communication (elevator pitch).
The opening address was given by Lecturer, Ms. Naima Khurshid. Ms. Naima gave an overview of C2, ORIC and fielded questions from the audience. Students were encouraged to engage with ORIC staff and venture into entrepreneurship.
Head of Department Architecture and Design, Mr. Waqar Aziz began the workshop on Design Thinking by asking philosophical questions of our existence. Laced with sociological underpinnings, this interactive session led the audience on a journey expanding on the relationships between man, objects and environment. At this point Mr. Waqar brought the audience to a conjecture that these elements are fundamental basis from which innovation or design thinking takes place. Waqar ended his workshop with industrial examples.
In Charge ORIC, Mr. Yasir Munir began his workshop on Elevator Pitch by stressing on its importance for entrepreneurs. The workshop focused on structure, elements and exercise of pitching. Yasir suggested that students should not be afraid of experimentation nor of failure. The workshop ended with students pitching their ideas to the audience.
Close to 90 students attended these workshops. Mr. Ali Iftikhar, lecturer at the MS department encouraged his CS students studying Entrepreneurship to attend and participate. Mr. Shumail Sarwar also encouraged and several of his students were in attendance.
