Project

One of the most important events under the umbrella of DICE-IET 2020 is an exhibition of projects from computer science and engineering disciplines. This event is aimed at bringing together projects that represent innovation and collaboration with the industry on competitive basis. This competition shall not only motivate the students to bring forward practical ideas representing innovation but would also provide a platform for students and their supervisors to meet and have an intellectual discourse. To encourage active participation of students, there is a handsome prize money of PKR 200,000/- for innovative undergraduate student projects.

Who can participate

Student teams from any HEC recognized degree awarding university/institution who are working on Information & Enabling Technologies related innovative projects. Research and development (R&D) teams who are working on related projects from academia and industry.

Each team can have a maximum of four members. Potential areas (A heading)

The projects could be related to following (but not limited to) any of the following broad areas:

  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Bioinformatics
  • Engineering
  • Agriculture
  • Health Sciences
  • Biotechnology
  • Space Technology
  • Geological Science

What is Required?

  • Participating teams will have to come up with “Information and Enabling Technologies” related innovative project idea.
  • Teams should preferably utilize state-of-art technologies/software/techniques to design the innovative product concept.
  • Projects having potential to benefit the related local industry will be given special consideration.
  • Shortlisted project teams will be required to display and present their projects on the event.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Initial Evaluation: A written report as per given template, will carry weightage in the final score. A panel of academicians from several leading universities shall judge the submitted reports based on quality of submitted report (with special emphasis on language, structure, literature survey and implementation details), degree of innovation and readiness for commercialization.
  • Final Evaluation (for shortlisted projects): Project presentations/demos on the event days will be evaluated by a panel of judges comprising of experts from both academia and industry.

Overall score and standing of projects will depend on following parameters:

  • Score carried forward from Initial Evaluation performed on submitted reports and supplementary material (if any)

Symposium

This symposium will benefit researchers from the industry as well as academia to showcase their contributions in making our world a smart place by enhancing the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness against the critical issues via widespread use of cutting-edge technologies that include mobile communication, big data, AI/machine learning, signal processing, wireless communication, wearable technology, game sensing, pervasive and mobile computing.

Besides, the symposium will also provide students an opportunity to get a deeper insight about the adaptability of 1) autonomous operation via a sensing technology, 2) artificial intelligence via a machine learning technology, 3) ubiquitous services at any time and any places via mobile technology, and 4) users-centric services via constant communication between providers and consumers.

A smart world is one that leverages on the power and the potential of technology to make human beings more productive; to allow us to focus our resources on activities and relationships that matter; and ultimately to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life. A cluster of technological advances is changing how people live, work and play. Since the world is progressing to ‘smart’ such as ‘smart car’, ‘smart home’, and ‘smart agriculture’. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an engine for the implementation of ‘smart’. ICT systems and services have become important ingredients in the development of many facets of life – in one way or another future advancement on world culture, education, health, agriculture, transport and trade – is made through ICT systems and services.

Thus, this symposium provides a platform to exchange the exposure/knowledge that is necessary to develop new forms of connectivity, new types of digital relationships, and anchor opportunities presented by the greater integration of connected technologies into everyday lives.

List of invited speakers will be uploaded soon.

Aims and objectives:

  1. High-profile, leading-edge platform for researchers, academicians and engineers to exchange and explore state-of-art advances and innovations in the domain of Information Technology.
  2. Introducing the participants (faculty members, students and engineers) about the cutting-edge technologies that include mobile communication, big data, AI/machine learning, signal processing, wireless communication, wearable technology, game sensing, pervasive and mobile computing
  3. To aware the participants about the new tools and technologies for cyber physical and IoT based systems and to give the exposure about the computation techniques in the field.
  4. To train the participants about the requirement in advance research.
  5. Demonstration of AI/machine learning technique in different research areas, example will help them to work independently in Computer Labs.
  6. To established link between industry and academia.
  7. To share knowledge to address the challenges faced by Industry in Pakistan and how they can be solved by adopting these start of art innovations.
  8. To provide an invaluable insight into popular tool/technique’s, their applications, principles and practice.
