Dr. M. Shahzad Khurram, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical
Engineering, has assumed leadership as head of the Biomass Conversion Research Group.
His research covers fluidized bed hydrodynamics, biomass and coal gasification, and waste to
energy. He is an author on fourteen of the papers listed in the
group’s publications, among them work on solid
circulation and transport velocity in circulating fluidized beds, the co-gasification of
municipal solid waste with sugarcane bagasse and rice husk, and biomass power generation
potential in Pakistan.
The group continues its work across all four
conversion pathways, from the pilot gasification facility
at the Lahore Campus to modelling and simulation.
