Introduction

Biomass Conversion Research Group was established in 2008 to support the science and technology goals of Pakistan. The centre is headquartered at COMSATS University Islamabad-Lahore Campus. This is a virtual centre that provides platform of cooperation through a network without frontiers between different national and international units, members, and groups to advance technology for producing fuels, chemicals, materials, foods/feeds, power from biomass and all variety of wastes.

Aims

The Biomass Conversion Research Group (BCRG ) aims to apply engineering science(s), technology(ies), modelling & simulation, and artificial neural networks for the development of advanced processes, generation of knowledge, to produce power/electricity, liquid/gaseous fuels, chemicals, materials from natural sources, wastes, and renewable resources.

Mission

The mission of the Centre is to develop economically viable, technologically sound, and environmentally attractive means of biomass, plants, and all renewable resources. Together we endeavour to shift the raw material basis of modern society away from fossil resources to renewables.

Objectives

Primarily and not limiting to systematic development of:

  1. Biobased technology(ies) for materials/chemicals/fuels.
  2. Biorefining, and agricultural ecosystems for societal, geological, in an integrated political context.
  3. Resource-productive soils for mature biobased economy.
  4. Processes for utilization of entire "barrel(s) of biomass"

We are open and welcome to add on in our objectives for civic civilisation.
