ERUPT' 16- Business Plan Competition by Plan 9 and Careem
Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) had hosted a two-day business plan competition with the name of ERUPT'16 on November 22-23, 2016. The principle organizers of this competition were Plan 9 (A Punjab Information Technology Board Initiative) and Careem Cab Services. The same competition was being held at 14 other universities in Lahore by Plan 9 and Careem.
Initially 38 teams of students from CIIT Lahore registered with ERUPT' 16. Out of 38, 20 teams were short-listed from CIIT Lahore. The round 1 of this event began on November 22, 2016. This round demanded teams to pitch their business idea only infront of 3 judges from Plan9 and Careem respectively.
Ten teams were short-listed by the panel of judges at the end of round 1 of ERUPT'16. Round two held yesterday,was mainly about detailed business plan covering the target market and its size, marketing strategies, financial plan and operations of the business idea.
After a neck to neck competition, two teams stood out of the ten, which were Patient-Centered Health Monitoring System for E-Services and Paltopk.
The final winner of the competition was Patient-Centered Health Monitoring System for E-Services. The team members of the winning team comprised of two EE students Ms. Hina Zafar Awan and Mr. Maaz Ahmad. The winning team was supervised by Dr. Mujataba Hussain Jaffery (Assistant Professor, EE).
On behalf of ORIC, we congratulate the winning team and Department of Electrical Engineering for this phenomenal success.Moreover we wish them good luck for the final round of ERUPT' 16, where they will compete against 14 other universities. The final winner will get 11 lakh rupees and comprehensive technical expertise by Plan 9 to initiate their start-up.
