Usama Ahmed is a full time Ph.D. student at Department of Computer Science, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Lahore working under the supervision of Prof. Syed Asad Hussain. He is an active member of Communication Networks Research Center (CNRC). He received his MS degree in Information Security from National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan in 2009. He is an awardee of HEC Indigenous PhD Fellowship. His area of interests include information security concerns in Mobile Sensor Networks, Software Defined Networks and Inter-cloud Computing.
Research Summary
An Adaptive Trust-Aware Brokerage in Cross-cloud Federation
Cross-Cloud Federation (CCF) is beneficial for heterogeneous Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) for expanding their service footprints without any predefined and long standing agreements. This research establishes the need of trust awareness in CCF as a unique case due to the heterogeneous, multilevel and dynamic nature of federation. Existing works in trust evaluation for cloud computing proves deficient to fulfill the requirements of cloud-to-cloud trust paradigm mainly due to their user centric, non-hierarchical and non-composite nature. Novel solutions for trust and reputation evaluation in Cross-cloud federation are required such that their underlying mechanisms are aligned with the nature of federation construction.
