Dr. Muhammad Haris Hamayun is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus.

Academic Achievements:

Dr. Hamayun earned his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (ICET), University of Punjab (PU), graduating as a Gold Medalist in 2013. He pursued his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from ICET, PU, in 2017, achieving the Silver Medal for his academic excellence. In 2022, he completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, with a distinguished CGPA of 3.95.

Professional Journey:

Dr. Hamayun began his professional career in May 2013 as a Graduate Trainee Engineer (GTE) at Nimir Chemicals (Pvt.) Ltd. for three months. He later joined Engro Eximp Agri Products (Pvt.) Ltd. in August 2013, where he served as a GTE for one year and then as an Assistant Manager (Utilities and Processes) for 11 months. In August 2015, he transitioned to academia, joining COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus, as a Lab Engineer. He was promoted to Lecturer in February 2020 and subsequently to Assistant Professor in January 2023.

Professional Responsibilities:

Dr. Hamayun plays a key role in academic and administrative activities at CUI. His responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching undergraduate and laboratory courses.
  2. Administrative duties, including overseeing the FYDP office, CQIC office, Batch Advisory, Safety Office, and CRC Office.
  3. Supervision of undergraduate research projects and theses.
  4. Committee leadership, serving as a Senior Student Advisor and leading the Marketing and Admissions Committees.

Competitions and Supervision:

Dr. Hamayun actively mentors students in academic competitions. He supervised an FYDP group that participated in the Design and Innovation Challenge for Chemical Engineers (DICCE), organized by LUMS. Under his guidance, the team secured first place, outperforming seven teams from various universities.

Research Interests and Reviewer Role:

Dr. Hamayun’s research focuses on Process Simulation, Design, Optimization, and Catalysis. He has published 14 research articles in international journals, accumulating an impact factor of 59.302 and an h-index of 10. Additionally, he is an HEC-approved Ph.D. supervisor and an approved reviewer for three prestigious international journals, having reviewed nearly 50 research articles to date.

He is also a certified Aspen HYSYS user and serves as a resource person for Aspen HYSYS/Plus training (Certificate).
