Dr. Arslan Usman has completed his Ph.D from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET) in the field of nanotechnology. He has expertise in the field of thin films, semiconductor photonics and 2D material synthesis. His work revolved around the fabrication and control of physical properties for the development of smart 2D devices.  He has been awarded Ph.D. fellowship by HEC.

He has attended various national and international conferences and workshops.  He is a member of the Pakistan Institute of Physics (PIP). Dr. Usman has experience in nano materials along with 2D material synthesis and characterizations e.g., XRD, SEM, AFM, PL and TRPL, etc. During his scientific carrier, he worked with various national and international Labs e.g Semiconductor Photonics Lab, Germany, Laser and Optics Lab, UET and National Institute of Material Science (NIMS), Japan.  

Dr. Usman had visited Macquarie University Sydney, Australia as visiting fellow, where he worked on spectroscopic investigations of layered semiconductors. Later on he moved to Germany under the prestigeous Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (AvH Award), there he worked on design and fabrication of 2D layered heterostructures for ultrafast responce photodetectors. He has vast experience of steady-state and time resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) spectroscopy for investigation of carrier dynamics in layered semiconductors.
