Dr. Sobia Tabassum is serving as Assistant Professor at Interdisciplinary Research Center in Biomedical Materials, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Lahore. She earned her PhD Degree in Chemistry from Clausthal University of Technology, Germany.
Dr. Sobia Tabassum has strong background in material/organic/natural product chemistry. Her research interests at IRCBM focuses on Development of advance tissue regeneration materials. 
Her group is developing simple economical biomaterials by grafting of material with simple functional compounds so that they can mimic the functions of complex biological compounds.

  • Synthesis of angiogenic, osteogenic and anti-infected biomaterials for tissue engineering
  • Organically modified Bioceramics for targeted drug delivery applications
  • Synthesis of moldable bone graft material
  • Extraction of plant protein, starch and glucan from common cereals and its use for biomedical applications
  • Use of Natural products/plant extract to control physiochemical and surface properties of biomaterials
