M. Ashfaq Ahmad graduated in Physics from University of Agricultural, Faisalabad. He had been a member of COMSATS faculty since 2002 when he joined as a Research Associate. Then he completed his PhD degree in the field of Quantum Optics with specialization in Quantum nature of light and entanglement in July 2007 as a CIIT scholar. After the successful completion of PhD degree, he joined as an Assistant Professor at Department of Physics, CIIT Lahore where he is still working as an Associate Professor.

He has around 65 International publications, Impact Factor= 100+, Citations=1000+, h-index=15 while his major research areas have been Quantum Optics, Information Processing: Entanglement, Quantum and Optoelectronic Devices, Renewable Energy; Solar Energy Harvestion and Fuel Cell Technology. He has also been involved in teaching both at undergraduate and post-graduate level and has supervised up to 20 BS final year projects as well as 20 MS research thesis and supervising 4 PhD students.
