Engr. Muhammad Haris Hamayun is currently working as Lecturer at Department of Chemical Engineering, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus.

Education:

  • Engr. Haris received B.Sc. Chemical Engineering degree from Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICET) in May 2013. He was Gold Medalist of his session and received 3 Gold Medals (an overall CGPA of 3.95).
  • He has completed his M.Sc. degree from ICET by securing an overall CGPA of 3.93 (2nd Position) in Oct-2017. His research work (in M.Sc.) was based on hydrogen storage and power generation using Simulation study (Aspen HYSYS).
  • He has pursued Ph.D. Chemical Engineering from UET Lahore, and completed his coursework by securing an overall CGPA of 3.95.

Work Experience:

  • Engr. Haris worked in Chemical Industries for about 2 years i.e., Nimir Chemicals Limited (3 months) and Engro Eximp Agri Products Limited (1 year 8 months).
  • He joined COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus (formerly known as CIIT Lahore) as Research Associate in August 2015 and promoted to Lecturer in February 2020.

Research Work:

  • Engr. Haris has a cumulative impact factor of 7.641. He is an active team member of departmental research group "Catalysis and Reaction Engineering" under the supervision of Dr. Murid Hussain (HoD/Chairman).
  • His research interests include Hydrogen Storage, Cryogenic Air Separation Modelling, and Optimization of chemical processes.

Member of Departmental Committee:

  1. Final Year Design Project (Currently member, updated infra-structure as per OBE system, documentation, result preparation etc.).
  2. Continuous Quality Improvement Cell (Currently member, worked on PLO Attainment mechanism, moderation of lab folders etc.).
  3. Occupational Safety and Health (Remained member of the committee, documentation, training etc.).
  4. Batch Advisor (Remained member of the committee, registration of students on timely basis, progress monitoring of critical students etc.).
  5. Curriculum Review Committee (Remained member of the committee for 2 semesters, Revised / Prepared scheme of studies of various programs). 
  6. Departmental Focal Person for AspenTech

Supervision / Co-Supervision of FYDP:

Engr. Haris has co-supervised two thesis of B.Sc. Chemical Engineering:

  • A plant design project on gasification of 30 tons/day of bagasse for production of syngas. (Supervisor: Dr. M. Rizwan, Co-Supervisor: Engr. M. Haris Hamayun), Completed in Spring-2016.
  • A plant design project on production of 1200 kmol/hr of hydrogen from biogas. (Supervisor: Dr. Asim Laeeq Khan, Co-Supervisor: Engr. M. Haris Hamayun), In-Progress.
