I am an Associate Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. My research focuses on the electrical and optical properties of 2D materials. Crrently, I am working on 2D materials and their heterostructures, investigating their fundamental properties for potential device applications. Recently, I conducted research at the University of Sheffield UK, where I studied strong light-matter interaction in 2D materials, specifically focusing on exciton-polaritons in self-hybridized exfoliated ZrSe2 crystals.

I am actively engaged in the fabrication and investigation of advanced nanodevices, including transistors, photodetectors, and gas sensors. My research group has assembled a home-built photoluminescence (PL) setup along with a 2D materials transfer system to explore novel material properties.

My research journey began during my MPhil at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, where I worked on thin-film fabrication using the Pulsed Laser Deposition technique. I then moved to New Zealand to pursue further research in nanotechnology at the University of Canterbury. During my PhD, I studied the electronic properties of percolating films of atomic clusters, particularly their switching behavior, as well as the physical properties such as coalescence and structure of these films. I later expanded my expertise at IBM Almaden, USA, where I worked on block copolymer self-assembly.

In the past, I have also worked on self-assembled monolayers using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. My interest in charge transport properties in nanostructures continued when I joined COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Lahore as an Assistant Professor in 2012. To gain deeper insights into the underlying physics, I explored Density Functional Theory (DFT) simulations.
