Dr Muhammad Yar is serving as Associate Professor for Interdisciplinary Research Center in Biomedical Materials, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. Prior to that, Dr Muhammad Yar worked as Assistant Professor of Synthetic Chemistry for Department of Chemistry, GC University Lahore. Before joining GCU, he worked as Assistant Professor at Department of Chemistry, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia (in top 250 universities in World).

He earned his PhD Degree in Chemistry from Bristol University of United Kingdom in 2010. He was awarded with 2003 Gold Medal and Orient Dr Atta-ur-Rehman Science award for Distinction in MSc Chemistry.

Dr Muhammad Yar has been actively involved in the sulfur ylides based methods development and made excellent contributions in this field. During his research at Bristol, he has established a short and simple method to synthesize bromoethyl sulfonium salt, which is now commercially available by Sigma-Aldrich. He has a number of good quality publications in high standard international chemistry Journals (Angew Chem, Org Lett, Chem. Asian. J. and Eur J Org Chem) and various patents have been appeared (by UCB Pharma, UK and KUDOS Pharma, UK) using the method developed by Dr Yar. He is working in collaboration with Prof Varinder Aggarwal and Dr Eoghan at University of Bristol, Bristol, UK. At King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals he was MEMBER OF Faculty Appointment Evaluation Committee and Committee for selecting Teaching and advising awards for KFUPM faculty year 2010-2011.

Recently, Dr M Yar secured a very competitive Post-doctoral Fellowship at the World Premier International Research Center (WPI), Institute of Transformative Bio-molecules (ITbM), Nagoya University Japan. There he was involved in three core projects, collaborated with World’s leading  scientists and had opportunity to learn cutting edge advance technologies, which he is establishing at IRCBM and believe will be able to produce high impact results. His research results from ITbM are being submitted to well reputed journals and a patent is also under preparation.
