HEC approved PhD Supervisor

Dr. Faisal Ahmed has completed his Bechelors degree in Chemical Engineering from Mahran University, Jamshoro. After some marketing and industrial experience he was awarded with HEC scholarship for MS in South Korea. After his MS, he served COMSATS institute of Information and technology as a lecturer and was again awarded with HEC scholarship for PhD in South Korea in 2012.

Experience in Process Data Modeling using MATLAB has provided him hands-on experience to develop software sensors for the difficult-to-measure quality variables in engineering industries, e.g. Melt-Index of high density polyethylene in LG petrochemicals, Korea.  He has also developed a soft sensor for the successful real-time predictions of NOx emissions from coal-fired power plant, Taean power plant, Korea.

He has been working on an NRPU project on reduction of NOx emissions from coal fired power plant using artificial intelligence and stochastic optimization. He has the expertise in the following research areas:

Modeling and simulation of chemical processes
Statistical data modeling of chemical processes through artificial intelligence (AI)
Reduction of NOx emissions from coal fired power plant using artificial intelligence and stochastic optimization
Optimization of treatment and liquefaction processes of natural gas
Optimization of CO2 removal followed by liquefaction of biogas process
Retrofitting and optimization of hydrogen transport processes
