Engr. Dr. Amjad Riaz is a professional Chemical Engineer, holds degree of B.Sc. Chemical Engineering from University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, M.Sc. Chemical Engineering (Gold Medal) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor, Malaysia, and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Yeungnam University, South Korea. He served in Industrial sector (Satam Technologies and CSK Distilleries Ltd.) for five years and joined Department of Chemical Engineering @ COMSATS University Islamabad (then CIIT), Lahore as Lecturer in October 2007. He is serving as Assistant Professor since December 2013.

His experience in process industries encompassed erection/commissioning, operations and process control. He taught many different courses of chemical engineering and established two labs at CUI. He has number of International Refereed publications and conference presentations to his credit in the field of Energy and Process Systems Design. He worked as member of several committees and perfomed various administrative assignments at CUI including the pioneering work related to transformation from COnventional Teaching appraoch to the modern Outcome based Education model in line with the Washington Accord (Phase-II) accrediation of Pakistan Engineering Council and Institute of Chemical Engineering (IChemE), UK. 

He is associated with Biomass Conversion Research Center (BCRC) since beginging. In 2009, he laid foundation of Modeling and Simulation Research Group (MSRG) in the Department of Chemical Engineering, CUI-Lahore. He is also member of Process and Energy Systems Engineering Centre (PRESTIGE) established to develop and promote Modeling and Simulation studies.
