Biography

Dr. Sidra Afzal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. She is a mathematician with a strong research focus on applied and computational mathematics, particularly the mathematical modeling and analysis of complex physical and biological and industrial systems.

Her research interests encompass fluid mechanics, non-Newtonian and nanofluid flows, heat and mass transfer, fractional calculus, fuzzy logic, thermal systems, and mathematical modeling of biological and industrial systems. Her work focuses on developing and analyzing mathematical models for challenging real-world phenomena, with particular emphasis on advanced fluid-flow configurations and transport processes with complex rheological behavior.

Dr. Sidra Afzal is also interested in integrating artificial intelligence and computational intelligence techniques, particularly Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), with mathematical modeling to obtain accurate and efficient solutions to complex scientific and engineering problems. Her broader research vision is centered on combining mathematical analysis with modern computational and data-driven approaches to enhance prediction, optimization, and understanding of complex systems.

Alongside her research activities, Dr. Sidra Afzal is committed to excellence in teaching and student development. She is particularly interested in creating an environment where students develop strong mathematical reasoning, computational skills, and the ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical scientific problems. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and the connection between theoretical mathematics and its applications.

Through her research and teaching, she aims to contribute to the advancement of applied mathematics and interdisciplinary mathematical sciences, while promoting collaborations that bridge mathematics with engineering, computational science, artificial intelligence, and other emerging areas of research.
