Introduction

CIIT Lahore Campus is pioneer in offering semester system based four years bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering. Duration of this degree program is a minimum of eight semesters. Bachelor in Chemical Engineering is a cutting edge competitive degree due to global wide industrial expansion being grasped by this discipline. The prime location of the campus in the industrial area provides a provision for strong liaison with various industries.

This programme is primarily aimed at applying chemical engineering principles to develop technical products and to design, control and improve industrial processes. Students also learn to take environmental and safety issues into account during all phases of the process (research, development, design and operation).Two guiding principles of sustainable development - the rational exploitation of resources and energy, and the application of the best available technology - are emphasized.

While students should have a foundational knowledge of chemistry, the underlying chemistry of the elements and components, their properties and mutual reactions are not the main focal points of the programme. Course work in chemical engineering provides balanced training in all aspects of chemical engineering principles and practices. Courses are specifically designed to emphasize fundamentals, with systematic application to the process needs, design & development, operation, simulation & modeling, engineering solutions to ever increasing technological wishful desires. Learning process heavily emphasizes on chemical engineering applications; facilitated by classical amalgamation of Islamic ethics, chemistry, physics, mathematics, communication skills, and computer literacy, economics, and management techniques. Some of the core courses of chemical engineering are Fluid and Particle Mechanics, Chemical Engineering Heat Transfer Operations, Chemical Engineering Mass Transfer Operations, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Instrumentation & Process Control, and Chemical Reaction Engineering.

Scope

Chemical Engineers are required to work in a wide variety of positions for engineering consulting firms, process industries, research laboratories, wastewater and water treatment facilities, manufacturing facilities, governmental agencies, and other organizations requiring individuals to work in chemical and environment related positions. The demand for professionals capable of performing tasks such as sample collection, monitoring, data management, and instrumentation calibration, operation and maintenance of chemical plants creates the need of Chemical Engineers.

Career Prospects

Wide employment opportunities await chemical engineers in the public as well as private sector. Jobs in areas such as processing, operations or manufacturing, research and development, design and construction, finance and teaching are globally available. A management degree, along with BS in Chemical Engineering, is a desirable option for jobs relating to marketing.

Students are expected to

As a chemical engineer you will predominantly work in industrial branches involved in (the production of) bulk and specialty chemicals, oil and natural gas (petrochemical companies and refineries), non-ferrometallurgics, energy, waste treatment, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Design, planning and building of installations (project engineer)
Monitoring and optimisation of existing processes (process engineer)
Design/formulation and optimisation of products (product engineer)
R&D of technical products, processes and devices
Customer services, retailing (sales engineer)

Management

Apart from these traditional career options, graduates are also much appreciated in other sectors for their insight into complex processes. Chemical engineers are often employed in the financial and governmental sector, for instance, to supervise industrial activities, deliver permissions and compose regulations with respect to safety and environmental issues. As self-employed persons, chemical engineers work in engineering offices or as consultants. Chemical engineers are often also quite successful as entrepreneurs.

How to Apply

Admission Procedure

Admission to CIIT is granted on the basis of open merit amongst the eligible candidates subject to the availability of seats in each program.

  • The candidates may apply in response to admission notice appearing in the print media and on CIIT website, on the prescribed application forms available in the prospectus and online, and submit the completed applications to the Admission Office by the due date.
  • Candidates waiting for their result of F.A./F.Sc. or A-Level may also apply on the basis of Hope Certificate. Such candidates shall be granted provisional admission and their admission shall be confirmed on the submission of result meeting the prerequisite marks percentage (within one month from the first day of classes). Sample of Hope Certificate are provided in the prospectus.
  • All eligible candidates are considered for admission into any degree program without any discrimination on the basis of caste, color, creed, gender, religion, or domicile.
  • The merit list for each program is generated on the basis of previous academic record of the applicant and his/her performance in the admission (NTS) test.
  • The list of the selected applicants is displayed on the specified dates on the campus notice board as well as on the CIIT Lahore website

  • Submit your application using the "Submit Application Form" link (visible after login).
  • Print your Application Form and NTS Challan Form (visible after login).
  • Submit Printed Application Form, Required documents (list is given in admission form) and Paid NTS Challan form, Application prcessing fee Rs. 1000/- ( if you have not purchased a prospectus for current Session) to CIIT Admission Office, if you have purchased a prospectus for current session then please attach the admission form in prospectus with your printed application form.
  • NTS Test Slip will be issued to you at the Admission Office.
