COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) took up the challenge of enabling the businessmen, entrepreneurs and academia of two brotherly countries Pakistan and China to join hands for joint investments in the areas of industry, trade, and research and development with a special role for academia. An academia driven model of business cooperation was therefore, proposed to have business to business cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese businessmen, academia and entrepreneurs. Hence, Pak-China Business Forum was introduced in the year 2012 with an aim to bridge academia-industry linkages between local and Chinese firms.
The forum is organized under the patronage of Dr. S.M Junaid Zaidi (S.I) (H.I), Rector- CIIT. The Chief Organizer of the forum – COMSATS Institute of Information Technology is a public sector higher education institution in Pakistan. So far, CIIT has organized four Pak China Business Forums with ever increasing participation from Pakistani and Chinese firms. The forum is held under the umbrella of Ministry of Science and Technology. This forum is specifically designed to address the most important subject of breaking the barriers of academia based research driven outputs and their translation into products for industrial and corporate sectors. The forum so far has been successful in bringing more than 300 businesses together through MOUs and agreements which have matured into blooming businesses.
Keeping in view the success of the forum, a permanent secretariat of Pak-China Business Forum is established in Lahore. The PCBF secretariat, Lahore acts as a platform to strengthen links not only between the businessmen/ entrepreneurs but also between the academic institutions of the two countries. It is engaged in activities of networking, promoting, facilitating, and creating awareness about Pak-China Business Forum throughout the year. It is also provides better access to the major industrial cities such as Faisalabad and Sialkot etc. Pak-China Business Forum Secretariat is encouraged due to the help and support provided by the Punjab Government throughout the forum.
